Girl Critical After Car-vs.-Bike Accident
A 9–year–old girl from Watersmeet remains in critical condition after being hit by a car while riding her bike on Saturday.
State Police from the Wakefield Post responded to the crash shortly after 2 Central time Saturday afternoon on US–45 near Rifle Range Road.
25–year–old Raymond Smith of Watersmeet was driving south on the highway when he hit 9–year–old Jersey Spolarich on her bicycle.
Police say Spolarich was riding her bike in the southbound traffic lane at the time.
She was airlifted to Marshfield Hospital in Wisconsin.
The investigation is ongoing, but police say alcohol and speed were not factors in the accident.
