Ga. man arraigned after car chase in Iron Co.

A Georgia man who led Michigan and Wisconsin police on a high speed chase over the weekend was arraigned Monday morning in Iron County District Court.

Karl Dresch, 32, of Crawfordville, Georgia pled not guilty to three separate counts.

He is charged with three counts: Fleeing and Eluding an Officer, fourth degree, Operating while Intoxicated, and Open Intoxicant in a Motor Vehicle.

Dresch was arrested following an eight minute, 16 mile chase Friday night.

Police say he was driving 72 mph in a 55 mph zone in Florence, Wisconsin.

When a deputy attempted to stop him, Dresch reportedly sped off at over 120 miles per hour through Florence on U.S. 2.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the chase after Dresch crossed state lines where was driving up to 146 miles per hour.  Dresch stopped voluntarily just east of Alpha, Michigan and was taken into custody.

Dresch has a preliminary hearing on June19.
