Tomorrow is Furry Friday at UPAWS, a monthly event that offers adoption specials, refreshments and extended hours. Since June is national Adopt-a-Shelter Cat Month, UPAWS and local partners are offering specials on cats. People can adopt cats that are currently in foster care, or could stop by the UPAWS location in Negaunee or the Pet-Smart in Marquette.

Community Outreach Coordinator Ann Brownell says, “All cats, all of June right now are half off the adoption rate, but on Furry Friday, June 19th from noon to 6:30 at the shelter all cats six months on up are going to be $10.”

That $10 fee includes the spay or neuter, microchip, vaccines and more. If you want to adopt a cat for the first time these locations can also tell you everything you need to know about owning a cat. When people come in to adopt a cat or any pet, UPAWS will do their best to get to know you so they can set you up with a furry friend that suits your household.

UPAWS is located at 84 Snowfield Road, Negaunee Township, Mich. and will be open Friday from noon to 6:30 pm.
