Furniture business closing after 134 years
A furniture business that has been active in Marquette County for 40 years, and in the Upper Peninsula for more than 130 years, will close its doors soon.
Walker Furniture, Mattress and Sleep Center has done business in Sands Township since 1974. Owners Rick & Joan McCarthy are retiring, closing the business and selling the property.
They’re personally inviting past customers to come in right now and browse through the inventory. A liquidation sale will begin on January 30th, and it’ll continue until everything is gone.
The original Walker Furniture store in St. Ignace was open from 1880 to 2005.
