Fuel tanker and semi-truck collide in Dickinson County

A two semi-tractor/trailer accident occurred at the intersection of US-141 and US-2 in Breitung Township in Dickinson County Sunday morning.  Both US-2 and US-141 were closed due to the accident.

The Michigan State Police from the Iron Mountain post say the accident happened at around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.  A semi-tractor pulling a fuel tanker from Klemm Trucking was traveling north on US-141 and entered the intersection.  In the intersection, the tanker was struck by an eastbound semi-truck and trailer from Gunville Trucking.  The semi-truck was unable to stop for the red light at the intersection.

The fuel tanker from Klemm Trucking was driving by Todd Vicent, 51, of Abrams, Wisconsin.  The semi-truck was driven by Bradley Hawes, 36, of Vulcan.  Both drivers were taken to the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.  They were treated and released for unknown injuries.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Iron Mountain Police Department, Breitung Township Fire Department, Beacon Ambulance, the Dickinson County Road Commission, LR Vincent Towing, Wilson Town and Cerasoli Towing.

The accident remains under investigation.
