Overnight snow blanketed not only the Keweenaw, but most of the central and western U.P.

Kids in Marquette County had the day off, as schools closed from Republic-Michigamme to Gwinn. As the snow piled up, the thermometer continued to plummet with wind chills well below zero.

The National Weather Service in Marquette expects more of the same throughout the remainder of the work week, with stronger winds set to blow through the region that may even break apart some of the newly-developed ice.
