Free Tax Help for Seniors

Many of us who haven’t already filed our income tax returns are starting to prepare them, and the process can be confusing.

But there’s free help available.

IRS-certified volunteers provide tax return help nationwide through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

And volunteers are doing that at the Ishpeming Senior Center.

Just about anyone who files a tax return needs some pieces of documentation.

The volunteers ask that seniors who come in for help bring that paperwork with them.

Tax helper Dorothy Kuhn says that documentation includes any W-2 forms and any statements of capital gains or losses seniors may have.

The volunteers will be at the center every Tuesday and Wednesday morning through April 15th.

And the tax assistance is completely confidential.
