Former USOEC wrestler wins Iditarod Sled Dog Race again

A former U.S. Olympic Education Center wrestler has won the Iditarod Sled Dog race for the second time in three years.

Dallas Seavey, 27, crossed the finish line in Nome, Alaska this morning in eight days, 13 hours, four minutes and 19 seconds. That was two minutes and 22 seconds ahead of runner-up Aliy Zirkle, who has now finished second three years in a row.

Seavey was in third place at the race’s second-to-last checkpoint. He made up a three-hour deficit in the final 77 miles.

When Seavey won the Iditarod two years ago at age 25, he became the youngest winner in the race’s history. His father, Mitch Seavey, won the event last year.
