Former U.P. Prosecutor sentenced in Texas fraud case

A former Michigan Technological University basketball star and member of the MTU Board of Control has been sentenced to two years in prison in Texas.

61-year-old Gary Lange was convicted of defrauding the El Paso School District with a bogus software contract, and bribing two district officials.

U.S. District Judge Frank Montalvo also ordered Lange to repay nearly $2,890,000.00 to the district.

In addition to his association with Michigan Tech, Lange also served as Ontonagon County Prosecuting Attorney before leaving the area. You’ll find more details here.
