Former MTU hockey coach lands new job

The Elmira Jackals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) named Jamie Russell the team’s new head coach on Friday. He becomes the 11th head coach in the history of the franchise.

Russell spent the last three years as a assistant head coach at Providence College. Prior to that, Russell was the head coach at Michigan Tech University from 2003-11. He was the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Coach of the Year in 2007.  The Huskies and Russell parted ways after the 2010-11 season.
