Football players thank veterans

ESCANABA — If you happened to be at the Escanaba varsity football game Thursday night, you probably left happy as the Eskymos defeated Alpena, 21-7. However, it was what happened before the game that had everyone talking, cheering, clapping, and a little teary eyed.

Before each and every home football game, the Escanaba varsity players and coaches shake hands with a number of local veterans, thanking them for their service to our country.

As the line of black and orange continued to thank the veterans, the Alpena Wildcats, led by head coach Brad Moughon made their way across the field, to do the same thing.

If you were there, it was an awesome sight to see. Our hats are off to the Eskymos and the Wildcats, for the awesome gesture just minutes before their opening game of the season.
