Food Drive for Local Food Pantry

Ishpeming and Negaunee residents will soon be getting a plastic grocery bag on their door steps. The bag is part of a food collecting effort put on by the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming and St. Paul’s Catholic Church of Negaunee.

“Project Food for a Neighbor” kicks off tomorrow as dozens of volunteers will hit the streets of Negaunee and Ishpeming to hand out bags to each home. The program asks for residents to donate non–perishable food items, paper products or hygiene products. These items will be donated to Salvation Army and St. Vincent DePaul food pantries who are in need of supplies to help support needy families in the community.

The program wraps up next Saturday, as volunteers will be hitting the streets to collect the food that has been donated. They ask that you place the bags by the roads by 10 a.m. so they can easily be picked up.
