Food assistance available to Gwinn area students

GWINN — Gwinn Area Community Schools are proud to announce that they will have a summer food program.

The program is targeted toward kids that rely on school meals to meet their daily nutritional needs. Gwinn Area Community Schools are delighted to be able to provide those in need with this opportunity.

“It’s really important to know that this is a government funded program that the Gwinn High School is sponsoring,” said Food Service Director Barbie Ward-Thomas, “but we are allowed to feed our kids for free all summer long. This program includes neighbors, surrounding communities, visitors from another state. Whoever is available and wants to come in and have lunch, we’d be happy to serve them.”

The meals will be at K.I. Sawyer Elementary School, the Sawyer Community Center, and Gwinn High School as well. Meals will be served Monday through Friday from noon to 12:30 starting on June 15th.
