Flu Cancels Class in 2 School Districts

2 U.P. school districts call off classes because of swine flu concern.

The Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area Schools were closed today, and they’ll be closed tomorrow as well.

School officials say Friday morning, nearly 50 students either called in sick or went home sick.

By the end of the day, at least 70 had done that, and that’s out of fewer than 300 students.

School should be back in session Wednesday, and the building will be thoroughly cleaned while it’s closed.

Rapid River schools will be closed tomorrow and Wednesday for the same reason.

As happened with the Hannahville School recently, public health experts are asking anyone who’s sick to stay home for at least 24 hours after the fever goes away.

That’s to make sure it *stays* away.
