First ever Rail Jam planned

Skiers and snowboarders have a new outdoor event in downtown Marquette next weekend.

The ‘Downtown Showdown’ Rail Jam will be held Saturday, February 16th, on East Washington Street behind the Savings Bank building.  Skiers and snowboarders will be using pre-made rails to perform tricks on the street.

The competition will be using snow from another event that is being held downtown that same weekend, the U.P. 200 and Midnight Run Sled Dog Races.

The Rail Jam starts at 3 p.m. with an Open Jam for all riders followed by a Skier Jam at 6, and a snowboarding jam at 7 p.m.  The finals will be held at 8 p.m. under the lights.
