First Chevy Volts Roll Down the Line

The first 150 Chevy Volts have left the production line and are heading to California to showcase the possibilities of electric vehicles.

The California Plug-In Electric Vehicle Collaborative wants to make the state a national leader in accommodating electric vehicles with charging terminals available in thousands of homes, office buildings, shopping malls and other sites.

California is currently in the process of upgrading existing charging terminals and installing thousands more.

The collaborative’s goal is to see a million plug-in hybrid and battery-powered cars in California by 2020.

But the Volt is not coming to the Upper Peninsula for now.

The first few Volts in the U.P. will arrive next spring.

They’ve already been sold, and local dealers say they have long waiting lists.
