Firearm Deer Season continues

Firearm Deer Season – Day Two.  And while hunters are hoping to be successful in the woods, that all depends on the current conditions.

The Department of Natural Resources has made the prediction of the 2012 deer harvest.  Warmer temperatures in previous winters led the D.N.R. to believe this season will be a good deer harvest.

Another positive sign for a good deer harvest is the report of low diseases outbreaks for deer.

D.N.R. Wildlife Biologist Brian Roell says,  in the Upper Peninsula there are no signs of any disease issues for the deer population.

If you are successful while hunting, the D.N.R. Field Offices do offer a deer check.  You can find out the health, age, and antler size of the deer; and you will receive a participation patch.
