Fire Training at Sawyer

Safety crews at Sawyer International Airport were given hands–on training today to brush up on their skills in case of an emergency

After spending some time in the class room, a mock incident involving a fiery plane was set up on the tarmac.

Crews had to battle fires inside and outside the plane.

These tests are important to keep the crews sharp and prepared for anything they might see.

The firefighters from Sawyer were joined by units from the nearby townships of Sands, Marquette, Chocolay and Wells and by a crew from the city of Ishpeming.
