Fire Destroys Abandoned House
An overnight fire in downtown Ishpeming has destroyed an abandoned house.
Ishpeming fire crews were called back to the scene this afternoon when smoke was billowing from the charred remains.
The fire in the building at the corner of Division and Lake Streets was reported about 3:30 this morning.
The building was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.
The fire also did some damage to the building next door.
In addition to Ishpeming firefighters, the Negaunee Volunteer Fire Department, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Rescue and Bell Hospital EMS were on scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
