Fire Danger High in Parts of the U.P.

As the snow begins to melt after the dry winter and spring season we’ve had in the U.P., the danger for wild fires has increased.

The DNR is urging residents and visitors to use extreme caution before engaging in outdoor activities because of the potential for wildfires.

The DNR says the best conditions for burning are on a day that is wet and not windy.

Before you burn, remember to check and see if the DNR is allowing burn permits for your area.

Grass and brush fires are typically found more often in the southern part of the U.P.
