Fire at MTU library
Due to a fire in the archives this morning, the J. R. Van Pelt and John and Ruanne Opie Library at Michigan Technological University is closed today.
The Houghton Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the J.R. Van Pelt Library about 11:30 this morning.
The fire crews quickly put out a small fire located in the Achives area in the basement of the building.
Early indications is that there has been some damage caused by smoke and water.
No one was injured in the fire and an investigation is being conducted into the start of the fire.
