Finlandia Runway Fashion Show
Fashion Week doesn’t usually coincide with the first week of deer hunting, but it does this year!
A benefit fashion show, ‘Culture on the Catwalk’, takes place tomorrow night at Upfront and Company in Marquette.
That event is raising money for a digital breast biopsy machine for early breast cancer diagnosis.
But last night, it was a chance for students at Finlandia University to show off their talents.

Strut…Stop…Turn…Finlandia’s fiber and fashion design program can claim another success after last night’s runway fashion show at the Finnish-American Heritage Center.
Both current students and alumni designed the clothing, which ranged from everyday wear to period pieces.
Professor of Fiber and Fashion Design Phyllis Fredendall said the designers have done an amazing job.
A runway fashion show is bound to have its share of hiccups — Phyllis said she had to deal with one problem that is rather important for modeling clothing.
She had to recruit the models, since many of the alumni live a long way from Hancock and couldn’t do the job themselves.
Many of the outfits modeled at the runway fashion show are now available for sale.
