Finding Economic Buffer In Latin America

Businesses from across the U.P. come together at NMU to learn about how they might be able to look outside America’s borders to expand.

Dr. Ines Bustillo leads the Washington office of the U.N.’s Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.

She met with U.P. businesspeople about opportunities that might be open to them in foreign investments.

Bustillo discussed possible ways for local businesses to learn what their counterparts in other countries are doing to ride out the global economic downturn.

According to her, Latin American countries’ natural resources are the reason for their economic success.

Other countries are tapping into their mining, oil and other energy sources.

American businesses might be able to do the same and find a buffer from any domestic economic problems.
