Federal indictment accuses man of intending to distribute meth near U.P. school
MARQUETTE — A federal grand jury in Marquette has just indicted a Minnesota man for allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine near a U.P. elementary school.
Dylan Quigley-Robinson, 21, of Hutchinson, Minnesota has been indicted on a federal charge of possession of crystal meth with intent to distribute.
The indictment alleges the incident occurred on June 19th in Ironwood. Quigley-Robinson is accused of intent to distribute more than five grams of meth within 1,000 feet of a public elementary school and playground.
Ironwood Public Safety officers say a tip from a concerned citizen led them to a suspicious vehicle near Longyear Park in Ironwood. They found Quigley-Robinson in the vehicle. Police said a search of the vehicle turned up 50 grams of meth, worth $10,000 on the street, as well as marijuana and cash.
Officers then arrested him on state charges, including resisting arrest. The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation. The case was turned over to federal prosecutors in Marquette, resulting in the federal indictment.
Quigley-Robinson remains jailed on the state charges in Gogebic County. Once a federal warrant arrives, he’s expected to be transferred to the Chippewa County Jail, where U.P. federal prisoners are held.
A federal court hearing date has not been set for him yet.
