Speed and alcohol may be factors in a weekend ORV accident that killed an Escanaba man.
The Menominee County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened just before 6 P.M. on Friday on private property 5 miles west of LaBranche and just south of M–69 in Spalding Township.
45 year old Ricky John Peterson was found at the scene of the crash. Preliminary reports suggest Peterson lost control of the ORV on a curve.
Police say he was not wearing a helmet.
The Menominee County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crash and were assisted by an accident investigator from the Michigan State Police and Hannah Ville Police Department.
Spalding Township Fire Department and Rampart Paramedics also responded to the call.
