Fatal car accident in Delta County
Speed is believed to have been a factor in an accident in Delta County early Sunday morning that left one man dead and another injured.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post responded to the accident at 1 a.m. Sunday morning on US–2 near Nahma Township.
According to police, 23–year–old Ryan Robert–Raymond Harper of Rapid River was killed in the accident. Harper was traveling west on US-2 when his vehicle crossed the center line and was broadsided by a vehicle driven by 57–year–old Ricky Dale Moulds of Escanaba.
Harper was pronounced dead at the scene. Moulds was treated at the scene and taken to Marquette General Hospital for further treatment.
US-2 was closed for several hours while the scene was cleared.
Garden, Nahma, and Masonville Fire Departments assisted the State Police. Rampart EMS, Tri–star EMS, the Delta County Sheriff’s Department and troopers from the Michigan State Police St. Ignace post also assisted at the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
