Farm owner describes tornado sighting

HERMANSVILLE — It was a scary site in Hermansville Thursday afternoon, when a tornado made its way through the area.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. central, Chelsea Blahnik, who owns a farm with her husband north of Hermansville, captured the twister on her cell phone.

The tornado made its way through her farm.

Thankfully, a herd of 85 cattle out in the pasture were not hurt. Blahnik spoke with ABC 10 earlier today about seeing a tornado come right through her property.

“The wind picked up and was blowing. It was crazy. I looked up and there the tornado was,” said Blahnik. “I didn’t know if I should be scared, go in the house or if I should run. It was just a shock. You just don’t see that. You don’t know what to do.”

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, the actual rating for the tornado is currently unavailable. NWS Meteorologist Matt Zika says the tornado will likely be classified as an EF0 or EF1.

Officials with the National Weather Service plan to do survey the site damage next week. This is the sixth confirmed tornado in the U.P. so far this year.
