Family fun is Moosic to the ears
CHAMPION — A local festival named for its events and local wildlife is back. That’s right, this Saturday is the sixth annual Moosic and Arts Festival at Van Riper State Park in Champion. The event will hosts several different bands, musicians and local artisans.
DNR Accounting Assistant, Melanie Brand says, “It’s quite an eclectic mix. You have country, folk, bluegrass, a couple of good oldies in there, so we have a couple of great collection of musicians coming, so it should be a great time.”
Lawry’s Pasties and the Chocolay Raptor Center will also be there. There will be plenty of things to do for the whole family including a bounce house for the kids and the Upper Peninsula Luge Club will have a luge track for the whole family to try.
“It is a family–friendly event, so, you know, grandma and grandpa can come, and listen to some music if they want,” Brand added, “mom and dad can hang out, the kids can do the bounce house, the whole family can entertain themselves. Everyone of all ages, from two to 102, everyone’s welcome.”
The event takes place in the day–use section of the park and runs from 12:30 in the afternoon until about 10:00 that night. The event is free if you have a state park pass, but if you don’t have one they can be purchased at the state park headquarters at Van Riper or at any other DNR office.
