ISHPEMING — A false alarm caused quite a ruckus at a local bank this afternoon.

Northern Michigan Bank and Trust, just off Hemlock Street, was the site where police officers from the state and Ishpeming post came in with guns drawn.

But as time passed – and passed – it was eventually found to be a false alarm.

Police say that with the bank closing, a worker was making his rounds to lock the doors and set the alarms. But before he could do so, the wind slammed a door shut and a motion sensor went off – causing the police to rush over.

The area is clear and safe to move through.
