Extra layers needed in chilly air

Cold weather is requiring that many U.P. residents bundle up for safety this winter. With frigid temperatures made worse from wind chill, it’s important to dress properly for the cold.

“Yes, you step outside right now and it feels really cold,” National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Zika said. “If you are going to be outside or doing any work outside for an extended period of time when it’s this cold, you definitely need to dress appropriately.”

With this just being the start of a very long and cold winter, it’s best to prepare now and always make sure to bundle up before going outside. Along with wearing plenty of layers, Zika says it’s important to remember to not stay outside for too long.
