Extortion suspect deemed competent to stand trial

MARQUETTE — The case of a Gwinn man facing charges of extortion and possession of child sexually abusive material is moving forward.

18–year–old Phillip Robinson has been deemed competent to stand trial. He was ordered to undergo a competency exam back in February. His next appearance in Marquette County Circuit Court has not yet been scheduled.

Robinson was arrested in January after an investigation into alleged extortion involving nude photos of local females.
