Help YDWP purchase and permanently protect the waterfalls and forests along the Yellow Dog River through the establishment of a Community Forest. Join us on February 13, 2016 at the Ore Dock Brewing Company from 5pm to 8pm for music by Fauxgrass, food, and a chance to help a great cause. Now is the time to work as a community to purchase this property and establish a Community Forest. In doing so, these natural resources will forever be protected and open to the public.
The evening will start off with food from the Marquette Food Co-op and Peace Pie Company at 5pm (vegan and gluten-free options available). YDWP will take the stage at 5:30 to give the public information about the project, the river, and the work being done to protect it. At 6:00pm, one of our favorite bands, Fauxgrass, will pack the dance floor. Throughout the night, you can visit our table to learn more and to gaze at some incredible local photography. You will have a chance to buy prints of photographs of the Community Forest and surrounding area, with proceeds going directly toward the purchase of the property.
And last but not least, every dollar raised at this event will be matched 1:1 by a very generous private foundation. We need to meet our fundraising goal by March 31, 2016 in order make this project happen. We are 70% of the way there and we know the community will help create the Yellow Dog River Community Forest. There is no ticket cost at the door but we will happily be accepting donations. Visit our website for more information at www.yellowdogwatershed.org.
