Downtown Marquette will once again host the start of the popular and highly anticipated UP 200 Sled Dog Race on Friday evening, February 12. Come join in the excitement as crowds gather on Washington Street and Lakeshore Boulevard to cheer on the teams of mushers and huskies as they begin their journey into the wintery wilderness. The opening ceromony wil begin at 6:15 pm, with the race starting at 7 p.m. There will be a 15 minute delay following the last team out, at which time the Midnight Run will begin. UP 200 dog sled teams are expected to return to Marquette’s Lower Harbor Park throughout the day on Sunday, February 14, as they complete the race. Visit www.up200.org for more information.
And don’t forget to stop by the Marquette Commons for the Warm Up Party 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Where there will be music with the band Jim and Ray along with food by Dia De Los Taco Truck and U.P. Dogs. The Commons is great for warming up by the fire, and warm bathrooms too!
