A diabetes awareness event will take place during the NMU vs University of Minnesota-Duluth Division I Men’s Hockey game on Saturday, January 30th.
All funds raised from the event will be split evenly between JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and Camp UPeninsulin (summer camp for children here in the U.P. living with diabetes).
Many great things will be happening during the game including: ceremonial puck drop; NMU players wearing blue jerseys during warmups (on of which will be signed by the team and auctioned off); Junior Wildcat skaters from Marquette Junior Hockey Association who are living with diabetes and have attended Camp UPeninsulin; silent auctions; bucket pass; and more!
All attendees are asked to wear blue in support for people living with diabetes. Special blue shirts will be available for purchase prior to the game. Anyone who wears the special event shirt to the game (or purchases them at the door) will be entered into a special raffle. Shirts will be available starting January 8th (locations TBA).
UPDON is working in conjunction with the NMU chapter of the College Diabetes Network and NMU Athletics on this event.
