Please help us in our effort to relieve Jeff & Linda of some of the financial burden of their medical and travel costs. In March of 2015 Jeff went for back surgery and during this surgery there was a concern raised for possible multiple myeloma. With some back and forth with tests and unresolved answers he was referred to Mayo Clinic, Rochester MN in October of 2015. When the doctors began reviewing his scans the scare of multiple myeloma was taken away and confirmed to be “bone islands” which are benign growths of bone and cartilage. HOWEVER! Through the process it was found that there was an abnormality on his spleen. We were not out of the woods yet… After that first visit then it was determined that he would need to return to Mayo Clinic the following week to have a biopsy done on his spleen. After some waiting Jeff & Linda received the call from his doctor the report came back as Follicular Lymphoma. At that time it was advised that all we could do is watch and wait and go back to see his doctor in Mayo in 3 to 4 months. Fast forward to February of 2016. Jeff & Linda returned to Mayo for his checkup. He went through the same poking and prodding as before to see if his cancer stayed the same or not. He met with the doctor and the cancer had grown. After some discussion and humorous happenings despite finding out his cancer had spread it was determined that he was eligible to start a clinical trial to see if it is better to treat his type of cancer sooner rather than later. With that being said, they returned to Sheboygan Falls, WI to spend the weekend with family. Then Monday the 22nd he started his first round of treatment. He will then have to return to Mayo Clinic the next week for his second round of treatment. Once that is completed he will have to be closely monitored by blood work – thankfully he will be able to do that at home in Marquette and have the Lab send it to Mayo. But, he will need to return to Mayo Clinic, Rochester every 3 months for follow up and scans. The proceeds of this benefit will help to cover some of their expenses such as travel expenses and medical costs.
