The UP Land Conservancy’s annual fundraising race series “Over the River and Through the Woods” is a growing success! Come race through the future Vielmetti-Peters Preserve, over a river and through a beautiful and challenging wooded trail while ensuring the perpetual protection of the wild land that we all love so much.
If you’re in town for the dog sled races and looking for a way to keep warm while waiting for the mushing teams to return, you’ve found it! This race is timed to be in between dogsled events, so you won’t miss anything. Just a short jaunt from downtown Marquette is a hidden gem, a wooded reserve that will remain protected forever as a place for connecting with nature. The trail will be packed, but not groomed, so you and your family and friends will have tons of fun on this great 5k course.
If you’d like to take a short walk to a waterfall on a different trail instead of race competitively, that’s great! Once the rush of racers whirls by, we’ll take you there.
After the race, come get warm at the Chocolay River Brewery for a potluck dinner, awards, and silent auction to support the mission of the Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy: “Land Today for LIfe Tomorrow.”
