The production is a noir version of Shakespeare’s political masterpiece, similar in staging to The Maltese Falcon or Casablanca, for instance. The Tragedy of Julius Caesar is one of several plays written by Shakespeare based on true events from Roman history. 2016 marks the 400th Anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. Even while the world is celebrating the tradition of Shakespeare, this production of Julius Caesar will be anything but traditional. Evoking the mood and feel of film noir, this production is set in a time where gangs ruled the city and Tommy Guns spoke louder than words. From fireworks at Chicago’s Navy Pier to a 2.5 mile short film walk along the river Thames, the world has set out to celebrate and we hope you will join us!
