Join The Nature Conservancy in partnership with the Alliance for the Great Lakes for the annual Adopt-A-Beach™ cleanup on September 17thfrom 8:30 am-12:00 pm!
Part of the excitement of this event is that we collect data on the trash that we remove and enter it into an international database that is used by environmental researchers, water health managers, and local officials to determine best management practices for keeping the land and water on which all life depends free from resource-damaging pollution.
If you and/or your group and friends want to participate, register online:
Under “Find a Beach Cleanup Event,” enter September 17 under “event date;” (a calendar will pop up for you to choose the date)
A list of beach cleanup events will appear, click on one of the above listed beaches. (Note: A list of all events will appear for the date you’ve selected all across the Great Lakes. You may need to scroll down to find our event.)
An “Event Details” box will pop up, click on “Register for This Event.” Follow the prompts and fill out the form.
We’ll meet at Moosewood Nature Center at 8:30am to hand out supplies and break into groups before heading to our beaches to clean. We’ll meet up at Moosewood again at 11:30am to tally our results and we’ll be done by noon… so bring a lunch and head right back out and spend your afternoon on a nice, clean beach!
I hope I get to see you at the beach! Please don’t hesitate to contact Andrea with questions or to ask about other ways your group can volunteer with The Nature Conservancy, and if you know of anyone else who would be interested in joining us, please feel free to share this email.
