Art Week officially begins in Marquette

MARQUETTE — Art Week in Marquette has officially begun today and there will be plenty of events to keep people busy.

The City of Marquette Arts & Culture Center is proud to present the fifth annual City of Marquette Art Week. Art Week features local artists, arts organizations, and businesses coming together to put on a week-long series of special arts and cultural events, concerts, workshops, performances, exhibits, and demonstrations.

Art Week will have a lot of the original events going on but there will be a few new things going on as well. Some new things this year will include the Pine Mountain Music Festival at Presque Isle Park, an eight-hour comic challenge, and a community drink and draw at the Ore Dock Brewing Company.

“It is a celebration of arts in Marquette of both visual, performing, literary arts and a celebration of all of it,” explained Tiina Harris, Marquette Arts and Culture Manager. “We have a free concert series Monday through Thursday at the commons. We have a final concert at Presque Isle Bandshell with Pine Mountain Music Fest and tonight is Hiawatha kicking it off. There will also be a lot of opportunities for children, families and all ages to get involved with free arts throughout the entire week.”

Art week runs June 24th through the 29th with events starting each day at 1 pm.
