Esky Gets 1st Draft of North Shore Plan

Escanaba is in the early stages of making major changes along the north shore of Little Bay de Noc.

Landscape architects from an Ann Arbor-based firm laid out an initial draft at the city’s last Planning Commission meeting.

The first draft includes expanding North Town, improving streets and bike paths and adding new businesses.

Planning Commission chair Stephen Buckbee believes this effort may succeed where others have failed because the plan builds on existing businesses and assets in the area.

The city would add the redevelopment plan to its existing master plan as a means to plan ahead for the waterfront’s long-term future.

The city is asking residents to look at the initial draft on its website, escanaba.org , and email any comments.

The Planning Commission expects to have a final draft in its hands within the next 2 months.
