MARQUETTE – Temperatures were in the low 70’s on Thursday for the Marquette Challenge Cross Country meet at Presque Isle Park. The boys varsity meet was on by Escanaba with 55 points. Negaunee finished in second place with 79, followed by Houghton in third place with 86 points. Joe Wolfe of Escanaba won the boys meet with a time of 17:16. Kingsford’s Nate Carey finished in second place at 17:25.

The girls meet was dominated by Marquette. The Redettes had just 19 points to take home the top spot. Lindsey Rudden was the overall winner crossing the finish line at the 19:28 mark. Rudden was the only girls runner to crack the 20-minute cap. Calumet was the second place finishing team with 81, followed by Escanaba in third place with 91.
