Escanaba native back in the NFL

Former Northern Michigan University offensive lineman Jace Daniels is back in the National Football League.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed Daniels to their practice squad on Wednesday. Daniels has a history with the Bucs. He spent the off-season and the entire NFL preseason with Tampa Bay.

Daniels was placed on the waiver wire back on August 31, after he failed to make the Bucs 53-man roster. On September 1, Tampa Bay re-signed Daniels, only to cut him two days later.

“I know he (Daniels) was scrambling to get a flight to Tampa Bay last night,” said NMU football coach Chris Ostrowsky on Wednesday. “I’m really happy for him in terms of our Wildcat football family. It’s an amazing accomplishment to be one of those people who get to play at the next level.”

Daniels and the Buccaneers have a home game on Sunday, Oct. 13 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
