Escanaba man faces multiple criminal sexual conduct charges

A 21-year-old Escanaba man’s criminal sexual conduct case has now been made public.

Joseph Richard Williams, 21, faces three criminal sexual conduct charges: two in the third degree and one in the fourth. Both third degree charges are considered a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The fourth degree charge is considered a misdemeanor, carrying a possible two-year sentence, a fine of no more than $500, or both.

Two of the charges stem from an April 7th incident in Wells Township involving a girl between the ages of 13 and 15 years old. The remaining charge involved a victim between the ages of 13 and 16 years old.

Williams’ case has been bound over to Delta County Circuit Court, where he has a pretrial conference scheduled for May 21st. He is currently in the Delta County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
