Escanaba man cited in Marquette accident
Two people were taken to the hospital and one man was ticketed after a three car accident Monday morning on US 41 in Marquette Township.
According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at 11:05 a.m. on US 41 near Brickyard Road.
Police say 21-year-old Patrick Smith of Escanaba attempted to pull out of the Lowe’s parking lot onto US 41 in a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix. Smith pulled into the path of a westbound 2005 Pontiac Vibe driven by 54-year-old Doris Perry from downstate Essexville.
After the initial crash, Perry was forced into the eastbound lane of US 41 and into the path of a 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The truck heading eastbound on US 41 was driven by 53-year-old Raymond Gregory of Marquette.
Eyewitnesses told ABC 10 the pickup truck barreled rolled three or four times before landing on the south side of the highway.
Smith and his passenger in the Pontiac Grand Prix were not injured. Perry and her front seat passenger, 51-year-old Sharon Rochow also of Essexville, were taken to Marquette General for neck and back injuries by MediRide EMS. Gregory was not injured in the crash.
The accident is still under investigation.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Marquette Township Fire and Rescue and the Michigan State Police.
Smith, the driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix, was cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way.
