Escanaba H.S. hires new football coach

Jim Hansen has been hired by Escanaba High School to succeed Dan Flynn as the head coach of the varsity football program at EHS.

The 29-year old Hansen has been on the football coaching staff since 2006; he has been the teams offensive coordinator the last 4 seasons. The E.H.S. school board approved the hiring last night at their board meeting.

Hansen takes over a program that has had just 2 coaches in the last 50 years (Jerry Cvengros 1963-1985 & Dan Flynn 1985-2012). Hansen is a 2001 graduate of EHS, where he was an All-UP Dream Team Punter, under the outgoing Flynn.

In addition to his now varsity football head coaching duties, Hansen is the head coach of the tennis teams, and an assistant coach for the wrestling team. He also teaches science and social studies classes at EHS.
