Entrepreneurs take the opportunity to talk shop over beer

MARQUETTE — Small businesses are huge job creators, and Marquette County is fertile ground for those new employers.

That’s why Innovate Marquette Smart Zone and 40 Below Marquette County are starting up a series of events called “Entrepreneurs on Tap.” Tuesday night was the first meeting and local entrepreneurs were invited down to the Ore Dock Brewing Company to talk about their start–up ideas and how to get the ball rolling.

“You can socialize after five and have a beer and learn. I think it’s a great environment. We want to learn about entrepreneurism, we want to learn how to talk to our boss, how to handle human resource issues,” said Alex Kofsky the Co–Vice–President of 40 Below and Enterprise Facilitator for Accelerate UP, “We invite people in just to talk with any or all of us, because, really, we are all in it to help small businesses grow and flourish in Marquette County.”

The event started at 6:00 p.m. with a meet–and–greet followed by a presentation from Ray Johnson of Innovate Marquette. He discussed how to best pitch an idea without giving away what makes that idea unique.
