Email Etiquette Workshop

Email can also tie into a job search.

The ability to communicate effectively with formal writing, electronic or otherwise, can create strong impressions about you in the mind of a potential employer.

Many people fail to recognize that, especially young people.

So NMU’s Multicultural Education and Resource Center hosted a free workshop about email etiquette.

A.J. Lara, a graduate assistant at the center, says it mainly consists of simple tips like staying brief and to the point, watching spelling, grammar and punctuation, and addressing the recipient how the person wants to be addressed.

Organizers say formal email is similar to a paper business letter, it should be written with the same attention to detail.
