East team prepares for All-Star game
Conference rivalries have been put on the back burner, at least for the week, to prepare for the U.P. All-Star Football Game.
Jeff Olson, the head coach of the east team and his staff have just five days to get all 39 players in sync offensively and defensively.
It can get tricky installing anew play book in less than a week. But through the first couple of practices, the East Team players and coaches seem to be on the same page.
“We want to be as easy as we can and as simple as we can,” said Olson. “You get the best of the best in the U.P. Not only are they great athletes but they are great kids too,” Olson went on to say.
“We all get together good and we help each other out on the different system because everyone runs a little different of an offense,” said Escanaba quarterback David Falish. “Its a little confusing with a different numbers system and different plays, and the coaches are all pretty good with it,” added Falish.
“He (Olson) is a good coach,” said Westwood defensive back Nate Clisch. “Anyone who wins a state championship should be fun to play for,” said Clisch.
“All this talent, like I’ve never seen it on one field,” said Sault Ste. Marie wide receiver Ray’shon Anderson. “Even my coaches have said its awesome to get everyone together- there’s so much talent.”
The U.P. All-Star Game is set for Saturday at 3pm. The game will be played at the Superior Dome in Marquette.
