Drunken Gladstone man assaults police

A 34-year-old Gladstone man is behind bars after breaking his court ordered bond conditions and violently resisting arrest.

Gladstone Public Safety Officers went to check on the welfare of the man in question and another 14-year-old boy at 513 Wisconsin Avenue in Gladstone around 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. Officers were able to determine that the 34-year-old was intoxicated and in violation of his court ordered bond conditions. When officers tried to place the subject under arrest, he violently resisted by assaulting two officers before knocking out the rear windows of a marked patrol car.

When the subject arrived in jail, the subject continued his physical altercation with corrections officers. Gladstone officers are now seeking a felony destruction of police property charge, assaulting an officer, resisting and obstructing arrest, and bond violation.

The name of the individual is being held until further review by the Delta County Prosecutors Office.
