Drunk driver who hit a cop car arraigned

MARQUETTE — An Ishpeming woman who crashed into a police car was arraigned Thursday morning in Marquette County District Court.

39–year–old Carol Saari faces one charge of operating while intoxicated, which is a 90 day, 100 dollar misdemeanor. She also faces a charge of failure to use due care when approaching a stationary emergency vehicle, which is a 90 day, 500 dollar misdemeanor. She plead not guilty to both.

This is Saari’s first offense, and Judge Kangas stated that she most likely wont face jail time.

Saari was arrested last Friday after she side–swiped a Michigan State Police patrol car while the trooper performed a traffic stop on M-28 near Kawbawgam. No one was injured in the accident.

Saari has a pretrial date set for March 26th.
